I took the Fan Controller to Injectronics. They didn't have any refurbished ones for my 'Early Model' Car. They don't deal directly with the Public and suggested I take it to Repco or Burson who are their 'Agents'. So I took it to Bursons who sent it to Injectronics to get 'refurbished'. It cost $358 and I got it back about a week later. Works Great Now!! Peeter |

The fan controller in my EA finally died. Cannot complain - almost 27 years!
A new transistor, associated bits (about $45 including postage) and a few hours and good as new. Thanks aussiblue. |

I have got this problem with my AU2 Fairlane. Iv got the replacement resistor and im all set. Now .. how the hell do I remove the glovebox? I feel a bit silly with this one. Cant find the screws anywhere, does it just clip in? ok .. fonud it! But the fam/blower assembly looks much different to the ones in this forum.
How the hell do i get at it without pulling half the dash out? Last edited by booHa; 09-12-2019 at 01:32 PM. |

OK, you found it - good.
The resistor should be in the “pinch” between fan housing and where the evaporator is sited. |

Hi, I sure did find it. It was a bit of a bugger to get the unit out but eventually (ergh and a few cuts and choice words, a few beers too haha) I got it done. You should have seen the level of crap that came out too.. half a shopping bag of leaves, dirt, random debris, sticks and stink! Why these cars dont have a cabin filter is absolutely beyond me, outrageous really. I should have put a mesh or something in place but hey its lasted this long (20 years nearly) I dont suppose I will keep it for too much longer.
But at the end of the day AussieBlue gave EXACTLY the right data. The transistor married up perfectly, in fact it was exactly the same as the existing one. So after a good vacuum, a bit of fiddling and soldering and putting everything back, refitting the under-bonnet fuse and voila - IT WORKED PERFECTLY. Thank you guys very much. Another happy customer |
