We (Craig and I) went after that record (12.15) in my ute with the same mods and couldn't even beat his full weight time (12.4). That was one tuff freak of a ute.
Here's a pic of Craig steering my ute at the Ford nats at heathcote earlier this year (12/09/2008), best we could put down was a 12.6!!

Cheers
Glenn

Thats was tough 260 Mark, those other shots at WSID of Craigs ute was a week or so before when he did a 12.4 at full weight (well only running slicks/frontrunners) and was his usual kind self and handed me the keys for a couple of passes.
Unopened I cant see that Boss 260 time being beat, now that the 290 is now the standard XR engine.
Those that still have a unopened 260 that were serious about having a crack at 12.1 have already tried and it will take a special one to make enough power to haul that time in.

My understanding is that the "true" uncracked 260 record was/still is 12.55 (Bren260). From memory Craigs conquering ute had oil pump gears for the 12.1. Having driven Craigs ute a couple of times, I must say for a manual it was lethal!

When i used to go to the drags with my dad in the 80's, the greatest and toughest sounding car ever to grace A.I.R.(in my opinion) Mr Ed a XA coupe. Does anyone have any info on this car or its where abouts today? thanks.
What a sight to see. Wheels up all the way.

There was a lot of great old fords back then. but MrED was my fav. i remember sitting under the old box near the track and you could hear MrEd going thru scrutiny. everyone loved it no matter your choice of car.
can't wait for some drag racing to come back to s.a.

Default eddie vodopidic

my spelling might be a bit out..
from memory it ran a stroked 351 clevo with a tunnel ram and twin holleys through to a jericho 4 speed.
I can still remember him dragging the rear bumper at AIR in the 90's and damaging the front end when it landed ( it was more spectacular before it was sorted to go quicker ) :
there was a feature a while ago in street machine i think on eddie.

ME ED had an upsidedown top loader for a fair while, as did a lot of super stock cars of that era.

I remember seeing a HK-G Monaro almost ripping the diff off the leaf springs on the shifts Running high 9's or low 10s at calder with a top loader in the Early 90s. It was absurd I loved it

Yep - 460 standard stroke, dove iron heads and a few other bits to make it go fast.
